I didn't set out to be crunchy.
In college I had an outbreak of eczema that made me resent having skin. The dermatologist who diagnosed this rash told me to begin using scent-free dye-free laundry detergent. That sounded fine, but as I stood in the cleaning aisle, mouth agape at the cost for such a luxury, I knew there had to be another option.
Google showed me I was right. I started making my own laundry soap.
My interest in making things has grown from there. Now I find it a personal challenge to see what I can make cheaper than I can buy it. From toothpaste to windshield washer fluid, I am ready to accept the challenge of finding homemade alternatives.
In the course of using homemade cleaning and care products I have saved money, but I also have noticed benefits of ridding my home of harsh cleaners, detergents, and scents. The eczema that started it all is gone, and I have seen my allergy symptoms decrease significantly. I'm not promising miracles, but this is my story.
